The only accommodations in Bath with AAA Approval.
A 3-diamond rating, the highest given to a B&B.

The home is on the National Register of Historic Homes and has been featured in a number of publications, including the Bank of England's employees magazine "The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street", "The Insider's Guide: Maine's Southern Coast", "The Romantic Northeast" (Ken Christensen), "Maine, Off the Beaten Path" (Wayne Curtis), and all three major newspapers serving Bath.

Built in 1874 for Galen Clapp Moses, the house became an instant celebrity in Bath when Jim and Larry purchased it in 1994 to create a bed & breakfast. Departing from traditional local house colors, this Italianate structure was draped in the most vivid colors of plum, pink and teal, thus its nickname, "The Pink House".

There are surprises throughout the house, from the elegant gardens and rooms filled with tasteful antiques to the full theatre located on the third floor  (and once used to entertain officers from the nearby Naval Air Station during World War II). The house contains a number of spirits, other than the sherry served at 5:00pm. Our ghosts, assuredly friendly, are likely to make their presence felt on a frequent basis. Early evening finds guests relaxing on the porches which surround the house or taking a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.

A full breakfast is served each morning and varies according to the cook's mood. While juices, fresh brewed coffee and a variety of muffins are available for early risers and late sleepers, the full breakfast between 8:00am and 9:00am adds such entrees as walnut pancakes with orange sauce, mushroom or artichoke quiche, sour cream and chive omelets, baked french toast, cinnamon waffles with Maine maple syrup. All entrees accompanied by honey/mustard sausages, turkey bacon, or sundried tomato and basil sausage.

Words from our guests:

Dear Jim and Larry, I do think you guys have an exceptional gift for making people feel at home in your extraordinary house and want to confirm my appreciation for your attentions. Not since I was ten has anyone turned down my bed; not since I was last in a hospital have I been left a carafe of water. Only at parties have I been served wine and fine nuts in a garden and not, again since I was a child have I rocked on a front porch. I have had breakfasts such as yours in New Orleans and the Cotswolds but never three in a row of such variety of fruit and egg concoctions. …. I feel compelled to say that our stay with you was a highlight of our Maine experience. Sincerely yours, Annette Hernson (Newark, Delaware, July, 2005)

Dear Jim and Larry, Just wanted to say, "thanks" again for a most enjoyable stay in Bath, Maine. We felt very "at home" in the GCM House. You both do such a great job at making people feel welcome. We especially enjoyed the breakfast hour with your elegant presentation and warm conversation…. The house has been so beautifully restored and kept that Mr. Moses must be smiling…Bill and Karey Harper (New York, NY, August, 2005)

Dear Jim and Larry,
Kent and I thank you for welcoming us so warmly into your home. This was my first experience in a bed & breakfast and I'm certain there will never be one as memorable and lovely as this one. The Victorian Room is so romantically decorated. So many of your beautiful touches reminded me of my mother's things. The breakfasts were divine. I felt so spoiled by your service to us, Jim, and of course by your talent in the kitchen…Chris and Kent Kanoy (Canboro, North Carolina, August, 2006)

Dear Jim and Larry, Thank you so much for being such an important party to my family's celebration. We all just loved our stay with you. Good food, wonderful morning entertainment…and a "fab" dog for a family who goes nuts for animals. The house is wonderful…Bath is a delightful town…. Carol Stopps (Richmond, Virginia, May, 2006)

Just wanted to say thank you so much.  We really enjoyed our stay.  I don’t think we have ever stayed in such a beautiful home.  You have really put a lot of work into it and it shows.  Wow. Jim: thanks for the dinner suggestion.  It turned out to be the best place to eat out of all the ones we stopped at.  And your breakfast was awesome.  Just wish we had more time to stay.  So much to take in and so little time.  Once again thanks to both of you for making this a really enjoyable vacation.

Just wanted to say thank you for the warm hospitality and for providing such a great place to drop our heads.  Such a nice stay and the muffins on the road trip home were just what the doctor ordered.
